Research Summary

The objective of my project is to explore the mechanism by which silicon reduces the BDT temperature with decreasing size. In addition, we try to understand the role of micro-mechanics on the behavior of freestanding tissue in-vitro. Therefore, we design micro-testing devices for studying the mechanical behavior of semiconductors, soft bio-materials and living tissues. Research activities include cleanroom level microfabrication, in-situ mechanical characterization of micro/nano- scale materials in SEM and confocal microscopy, atomic force microscopy, Finite Element analysis, and Molecular Dynamics simulations.
